Meet Krystal
Since you’re here…
A few things you should probably know about me.
Kentucky raised. Gulf Coast heart.
I love Kentucky. It made me who I am. But put me near Florida’s Gulf Coast with my toes in the sand and I’m ridiculously happy.
Writing requires tea.
Hot English breakfast tea, preferably in a pretty mug. I have a few favorites, including a blue glass one etched with a wave. If that sounds strangely familiar someday while you're reading Where She Learned to Stay...well, writers borrow things. 😂
I’ll read just about anything.
World War II novels, rom-coms, mysteries, classics—I love Pride and Prejudice and The Secret Garden—and yes, I am absolutely a Twilight fan. My bookshelves don't believe in choosing a genre.
My playlist has no idea who it is.
Neither do I expect it to. What I'm listening to depends entirely on the day. Different genres, different decades, different moods. If I like it, it belongs.
A few things I cannot tolerate:
Loud chewing. Whispering. And people being mean. That's the list. 😂
My favorite things aren't particularly complicated.
Bubble baths. Walks in the country. Cuddling with my dogs. Journaling. Singing loudly. Dancing. Give me the people I love, something to laugh about, a good book, and somewhere beautiful to wander, and I'm pretty content.
My favorite people call me Mom.
I have three boys, and being their mom has been one of the greatest adventures of my life. They've also provided years of material I'm sure they'd prefer I never use.
I started writing my first novel at forty-eight.
So if there's something you've been telling yourself you waited too long to do, I'm probably going to be the person telling you to do it anyway.
I come from people who feed you.
Homemade biscuits, Sunday dinners, gardens, recipes passed down in handwriting, and enough food on the table for whoever happened to show up. Food means love where I come from. It probably explains a few things about Morrow Harbor.
I believe laughter belongs in the hard parts, too.
Sometimes especially there. My family has always laughed—a lot. Occasionally at things we probably shouldn't. That's made its way into my writing.
Home matters to me.
Not necessarily the building. The feeling. Being able to exhale. Being known. Having people who notice when you aren't there. A place where you don't have to make yourself smaller to belong.
I'm almost always dreaming up something.
A story. A room. A garden. A business. An entire fictional Gulf Coast town, apparently.
The people who know me call me K. If you've made it this far, I figure we're acquainted now.

Beside every chapter
Meet Joe.
Joe is my husband, my best friend, and my real-life G.I. Joe. He has been beside me through the dreaming, the writing, the doubt, and every brave step that brought Tended Legacy to life.
He’s my biggest cheerleader, a little bit of book inspiration, and the steady hand behind the business as Tended Legacy’s business manager. This may be my name on the books, but his love, belief, and willingness to keep choosing this dream with me are woven through all of it.
And because he’s Tended Legacy’s business manager, I am technically his boss. I try not to mention that too often. Joe would probably say once was too often. 😂
Of all the stories I could ever write, ours will always be one of my favorites.
